3 Common-sense Tricks to getting a sweet deal on the sweetest scooter

By Shane Jensen

A couple of weeks back, I set out to find the best scooter in the world. Boy was I in for a treat! Without knowing anything about scooters, I seriously had no idea what I was getting into. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of brands and models to choose between and most of them have very little to learn from information on the company web sites. And the only sites that have solid information and picutres, their scooters cost more than $5000. And to make things worse, I came to find out, that per capita, scooters are in highest demand in my state - so every time I found a fair deal on one, it was gone. But after two weeks of research, I finally found the easiest way to get a good deal and here it is.

Hunting for scooters in Utah is surprisingly tougher than you may expect - you'll see what I am saying if you do a search for scooter utah. For whatever reason, Utah has one of the highest search volumes in the Country for scooters and mopeds - as I learned from Google. It potentially has something to do with Utah also having some of the highest gas prices in the country. In any case, here are the 3 tips to getting a scooter utah, but I'm sure they'll apply in your state as well:

1. Chinese scooters or not Chinese scooters? That is the question...

At the beginning, ask yourself if you'd need a Chinese Scooter or not? There are benefits and drawbacks to this decision, it just depends on what you need. I've also written another article on just Chinese scooters if you are interested. But to keep this short, just know if you are ok with Chinese Scooters, you are going to have to go through a lot of junkers to find a great one. These guys tend to be the most reliable for chinese mopeds and scooters http://sunnysidescooters.com/ScooterTips.html. They were very pleasant when I had tons of questions and they gave me some brilliant stuff for scooter tips.

2. How much power do you want? 150cc, 125cc, 50cc, or more?

CC stands for cubic centimeters. It's the cubic capacity of the engine. Typically, 150cc scooters go about 60mph, 50cc scooters go about 30mph, and 250cc scooters go about 80mph. And you give up better gas mileage the higher you go in CCs. In scooter utah, anything 150cc and above requires a motorbike license. You'll be wanting to check with your local dmv for scooter laws on this. But this was an important factor for me, 'cause I didn't want to go get my motorcycle license solely for a scooter. What's cool, is I ended up finding a Lance Scooter that was 125cc, and it went as fast as all of the other 150cc scooters I could find.

3. Is the scooter CARB and/or DOT certified for your state?

It may seem funny, but not all scooters and mopeds have been certified in all 50 states. Some manufacturers have cut corners and tried to save a couple of dollars, and as a result they've produced some heavy garbage. It's very significant to make sure your scooter is built by a solid business and a reputable scooter company. All the good companies, include warranties. I will put together a list for you with all the makers I called and checked out and the benefits and downsides of each scooter.

So what scooter did I end up going with for my scooter utah rides? I ended up going with the Lance Cali Classic 125cc. I sort of let the cat out of the bag earlier, but it has been an awesome scooter so far, and I am sure it will be for many years to come. And I did not have to get my motorcycle license, which is a definite plus. If you would like to contact me below and I will send you more info.

The Reason Why The Yamaha VMAX Motorcycle Is The Best Muscle Bike Out There

By Ricky Hindricks

Do you delight in racing motorcycles or do you merely enjoy the buzz of taking a fast motorcycle out for a drive? Primarily announced in 1985, the Yamaha VMAX is accepted as one of the fastest motorcycles available on the market. This specific bike is not for newcomers but for the more experienced motorcyclists who enjoy fast exciting rides. This unique bike is a consistent great seller and the name VMAX is associated with speed.

Its most spectacular attribute is the V-Boost which is capable of speeds as much as 800 RMP. 4 individual downshaft carburetors look after the cylinders and continue to be separated by butterfly valves. Other hot rod motorbikes do not come anywhere approaching the same horsepower as the V-Boost. The VMAX also draws speedy and smooth acceleration direct from the V-Boost. The original VMAX possessed a V4 1200 CC powerplant, 145 HP, and V-Boost and was solely available in the United States. Yamaha presented a 104 HP slower type to European and French outlet in 1986. The European models sadly lacked the formidable V-Boost. The motorcycle was first revealed in Japan in 1990 with the slight variation of an integrated digital electronic ignition.

Since they were implementing stricter restrictions on noise in Europe changes had to be made to the European model. So in 1996 there was a change to a black exhaust system by Yamaha, which unfortunately wasn't very well received by bike owners, so the chrome design was back in 1998. For a lot of bike riders, the VMAX is much more powerful than what they want, but for the thousands of members of the VMAX Owners Association, they are most proud of their bikes. The Association schedules rallies along with motorcycle events for their many members. The bike has additionally found its way into drag racing as well, because the VMAX with its speed gives many of the competitors a greater chance of winning. Modified VMAX motorcycles have been known to hit speeds of more than 200 MPH in a quarter mile at major competitions.

The Yamaha VMAX has persistently been a top motorcycle preference since it broke into the market in 1985. Its black and chrome color affords the bike a robust and almost muscular feel. A number of people consider this to be a rather monotonous color scheme to be its own fault. Some folks have added personal variations to make their bike special. They have opted to incorporate such items as different mirrors, decals, and many other exclusive features Many riders have also replaced the factory supplied seat for a more comfortable one. It's relatively easy to make these improvements since the bike's significant attraction is its power.

The Yamaha VMAX is the top muscle bike worldwide for over 20 years. Although absolutely not a bike for a beginner, it has consistently been a top choice in appearance and performance.

By Mahesh Rawat

Do you spend a lot of time racing motorcycles or do you just love to hit the freeway on a fast cycle? The Yamaha VMAX, or Velocitus Maximus for short, first came on the market in 1985 and is known to be one of the fastest motorcycles on the market. The bike is excellent for competent bikers who appreciate exhilarating speeds when they go out for a ride. The VMAX is a heavier motorbike that is very sought after and represents the best when it comes to speed.

Its most outstanding characteristic is the V-Boost which is capable of speeds as high as 800 RMP. Butterfly valves separate the row of four downshaft carburetors which supply the cylinders. The V-Boost supplies a horsepower that is unequaled by other hot rod bikes on the market. Additionally, the V-Boost supplies effortless acceleration very quickly. With a V4 1200 CC engine, V-Boost, and 145 HP, the first VMax was just offered in the USA. The year 1986 saw the European launch of a 104 HP style by Yamaha. Because they were implementing more stringent restrictions on noise in Europe changes had to be made to the European model. So in 1996 there was a switch to a black exhaust system by Yamaha, which unfortunately wasn't very well received by bike owners, therefore the chrome design was back in 1998. For many bike riders, the VMAX is much more powerful than what they need, but for the thousands of members of the VMAX Owners Association, they are most proud of their bikes. The Association schedules rallies and motorcycle events for their many members. This bike is also used in drag racing due to the great edge the opposition enjoy with the VMAX. Modified VMAX bikes have been seen to reach speeds of more than 200 MPH in a quarter mile at major competitions.

The Yamaha VMAX has continually been a top motorcycle option since it came into the market in 1985. The bike's compelling design has a sturdy appearance along with black and chrome design features. The rather bland color design is usually the only fault people can discover with this bike. To help their bike stand out from others, some people have placed their own personal spin on the bike's appearance. They have chosen to add such items as different mirrors, decals, and many other distinctive features Many riders have also switched the original seat for a more comfortable one. Since the most appealing attribute of the bike is its power, adding these unique touches is not difficult.

For more than 20 years, the Yamaha VMAX has retained its standing as the number one muscle bike in the world. This particular motorcycle is a top achiever when it comes to how it performs as well as how it looks but it's very much a bike for experienced bikers.

How to Avoid Common Motorcycle Accidents

By Nathan Hall

Driving your motorbike is one of the greatest ways to have fun. The passion to control your bike in a skillful way and the high adrenaline level can make it one of your greatest spare-time activities. Perhaps you love taking risks and you like challenges but what do you do to prevent a motorbike crash? After all, driving a motorcycle is a risky sport. In this article, we are going to speak about avoiding a motorcycle crash.

Purchase a good protective body armor. When you start driving a motorbike for the first time, you learn to protect yourself with full body armor. You should have your gloves, goggles, elbow and knees protection, leather pants and helmet and then you feel secure. But time passes and the gear wears out, a tiny crack in your armor can result into a broken bone. Are your wearing your chest plate? Are your goggles infrangible? Sometimes we make errors but be careful of your mistakes, some of them you won't be able to afford. Once you have a good protection on, you should get to the next step; you have to check your motorcycle every time you decide to go on a ride. Check the the signals, the tires, check the control, the lights and more.

Next, we'll be talking about typical faults that lead to motorbike crashes and what can you do to prevent them. Don't drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, I hope everybody knows this and everyone knows it is a typical error that leads often times to an accident. The number one thing that causes a motorbike crash is loss of control. You can lose control over your bike because of many factors and you have to know each factor. You might lose the control of your motorcycle when you speed up too much, or when you're not used to the the bike's control or you simply lack experience. All these depend on you and are fixable if you have a little patience and drive safe until you gain more experience. However there are elements that do not depend on you, such as the condition of the ground or the weather.

You have to pay attention to the road's surface, because it can cost you your life if you don't. By surface condition we mean, road dips, humps, cracks, oil, mud, sand, water. All these potential hazards lead to a loss of control over your motorcycle. Many times you can't see them, and your bike suddenly slides. Check for clues, if there are building sites nearby it can be sand and mud on the road. If you see big trucks in front of you, they could leak, so pay attention to oil splats.

Keeping an eye on surface conditions is important if you want to avoid a motorbike crash but you should also know how to position yourself among other vehicles. Always be conscious of other vehicles. Don't stay closer than 2 second away of the car in front of you and never position yourself in a vehicle's blind spot; that leads often times to a motorcycle crash. Remember to talk and signal with other drivers to make sure they're aware of you, especially trucks; and in the end all this will help you to avoid most motorbike crashes.

What parts are included in the exhaust system of a racing motorcycle?

By David Hirschmann

The exhaust system of a motorcycle is a set of tubes that is attached to the internal combustion engine. When gasoline is burnt, waste gases are made. The exhaust system releases these gases from the engine and into the atmosphere.

The different motorcycle makes have different types of exhaust systems and they may come in varying sizes as well. This is also true for cars. A Mazda RX7 exhaust has different mounting brackets than a Kia Sorento exhaust, and the same logic applies, e.g., across Ford Escort parts versus other Ford or Holden parts. In terms of a bike, the muffler is more of a standard fitment part, whereas the exhaust is usually made specifically for the motorbike.

The exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipes are the two main parts of a motorcycle's exhaust system. The gases also pass through the catalytic converter and muffler before reaching the exhaust pipes. The manifold is the first part of the system and it collects the gases from the multiple cylinders present in the engine. The gases then flow into a single pipe, ready to pass through the catalytic converter.

Exhaust manifolds are usually not too heavy and small in size. However, often the lengths of the pipe are planned in such a way that the focus is more on enhancing the flow of the gases rather than it's weight and size. In this case, the manifold is called a header.

The catalytic converter is the next part of the exhaust system and its purpose is to make the gases less polluting and less harmful to the environment. The engine tends to release various harmful gases including carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.

When these harmful toxins pass through the cat converter, they are converted into less harmful ones before being released into the atmosphere. This simple device also makes sure that you do not smell any gasoline when the gases are released. Most racing cars do not have a catalytic converter, and have a less restrictive muffler. This makes them louder and generally allows the engine to liberate more power.

The cat back part of the exhaust system starts at the end of the catalytic converter and goes on till the final pipe. The pipe that connects the cat converter to the muffler is also included in this portion. In a racing car there is usually a straight pipe in place of the catalytic converter. Some fuels used in racing, such as Avgas (aviation fuel) contain lead which affects the converter's ability to operate. A muffler may be used to restrict noise to acceptable levels (for example 80dB, but if that's not required then having no muffler allows the engine to breathe more freely.

The basic purpose of the muffler is to reduce sounds by reflecting sound waves that the engine produces. It is a set of tubes with holes which reduces the intensity of sound by adding two or more sound waves together.

The exhaust gases and the sound waves enter muffler through a central tube. As it passes through a resonator, a certain frequency of sound is canceled by the wave produced in it.

Then there is the exhaust pipe. An exhaust pipe can be made of aluminum or any metal. It is designed to make sure that the poisonous waste gases are taken away from the engine and into the atmosphere.

In some case, the pipe may have chromed tip with a larger size than the rest of pipes. Besides preventing rusting of the edges, this chromed tip and larger pipe further reduces pressure and also improves the appearance of the motorcycle.

Coolest Motorcycle Riders In Movies Or TV

By Kurt Santas

Motorbikes and bikers have long been iconic figures in movies, motorbikes have come to represent freedom and power, fitting well with the outsider role so popular in American movies especially. As well as romantic heroes in the cowboy tradition, some of the coolest motorcycle riders in movies or TV have also been bike gangs. In the 1970s and 1980s bike gangs appeared in all kinds of movies, usually terrorizing peaceful god-fearing American citizens.

The original motorbike anti-hero is perhaps Marlon Brando's iconic portrayal of a rebellious leader of a biker gang who clashes with small town America in the movie The Wild One. His defiance of authority and middle American morality became a symbol both of inspiration and fear. Never bowing to anyone or letting rules stand in the way of his beliefs he remains cool to this very day.

Cool bikers don't have to be clean and tough though, a double act with designs on Brando's crown came along in the two Easy Riders Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper in the 1967 classic Easy Rider where they play two filthy hippies travelling across America on massive motorbikes carrying not only drugs in their gas tanks, but the idealism and freedom of the rainbow generation. They die at the end.

The 70s saw the role of bikers in movies change, rather than peaceful warriors they more and more became menacing gangs. Although this role had always existed, the 70s love of movie excess saw bike gangs become more and more dangerous. This represented a turning point in America in many ways as old social mores began to disappear.

The ultimate movie about dangerous biker gangs would probably be Mad Max 2. The first Mad Max had depicted a future world where society had broken down and murderous biker gangs terrorized the countryside. Mad Max 2 ran with this and staged a full on war between a massive biker gang and a makeshift army of survivors. The bikers were a kind of tribal gang of killers.

An honorable mention should also go to Che Guevara, played by Gabriel Garcia Bernal in the 2007 adaptation of Guevara's novel 'The Motorcycle Diaries' which tells the true story of the revolutionaries travels around South America before meeting Castro. Although more about the man than the bike, he is still one of the coolest motorcyclists ever and the film is great.

The overall winner though has to be Marianne Faithful in the equally controversial and ridiculous art movie Girl on a Motorcycle where the star escapes from the eve of a wedding that she does not want to ride a powerful motorcycle around the highways of Europe while fantasizing about steamy sex scenes and wearing nothing but a leather jumpsuit. If you don't know why that is cool, no one can tell you.

The biggest problem when deciding on the coolest motorcycle riders in movies or TV is the fact that there are so many. Popular culture is loaded with cool people riding motorbikes and there is probably a book with all of them in, this is just the tip of the iceberg that you are seeing right here.

Save A Lot When Ordering Motorcycle Gears Online

By Khoei Draker

There is little doubt that the motorcycle gears are an essential part of the motorcycle because without these parts, the motorcycle would not move at all. These are the parts that enables the bike to move forward at different speeds while the rider shifts through them manually. They need replaced due to normal wear and sometimes due to misuse. Either way, you are going to want to look for motorcycle parts distributors online, as well as local distributors.

Since there are many different makes and models of motorcycles and not all of their gears are going to be the same, you are going to have to make sure that you are finding the correct ones. Some bikes are built for speed and others are built for comfort so one motorcycle manufacturer will generally produce a variety of bikes. You are going to want to make sure that you are shopping through a distributor that specializes in the motorcycle accessories for the specific bike that you ride.

For example, if you are riding a Harley Davidson Fat Boy, you are not going to use the gears meant for a Suzuki Katana. There are no similarities between these two bikes. Because of this, you have to make sure that you are shopping through a dealership that carries a wide variety and such a dealership is generally going to be found online.

There are the larger cities that many have more parts retailers but the smaller towns might find themselves without even one of them. Whether or not you would even be able to find a local retailer will be completely dependent on your location and how popular riding is in your area. Even when there is a local retailer, many riders have found it more cost efficient to shop online because there is not a middleman to mark up the price of the parts. Shopping online generally allows people to find the best parts for rock bottom prices.

If you are trying to save yourself as much money as possible, then you are going to want to try shopping online for parts. This is because you will save not just money, but time as well. And the money saved might just help you afford the cost of the labor to have the part installed. Since most motorcycle mechanics really do not care if you order the parts for them, you should start your search.

Of course, there are now a lot of riders out there that are able to make their own repairs. For these people, shopping for motorcycle gears, for example, is easier done online than driving around to some local dealers. Locate your parts online and compare prices along with the reputation of the dealer in order to get the best deal on your order.

Proper fitting items reflect the light and let others know your position while keeping you safe and comfortable. Helmets, pads, clothing and motorcycle boots fit and protect you on the ride.

Motorcycle boots change in style, but the purpose remains the same. Designed to protect you in an accident if you slip or fall, they also provide comfort to your feet while you ride. Stylish boots can be one of your motorcycle accessories. A proper fit allows room for your feet, letting them easily rest on the foot pegs without awkwardness. Secure, comfortable feet do not feel cramped or slide during the ride.

Hence, wearing ordinary boots or shoes may not be enough when riding your motorcycle. It pays to look for shoes that are manufactured exclusively to provide heat resistance and abrasion for motorcycle riders. Since your feet and legs can be very close to the exhaust pipe of the vehicle, you must wear motorcycle boots that can protect them in case of sudden contact with the pipes. You can also select pairs that are sturdy, abrasion resistant and come with the latest ads-ons for better comfort and protection.

Searching for motorcycle boots online, a pleasant experience, allows time to make notes and print out pictures, features and prices. Modern boots can change at a moment's notice, since style, comfort and safety are the goal of manufacturers. Standard black has expanded to a multitude of colors and types, with the cut ranging from high to low. Lower heels help some riders control the bike more easily. Today, that feature is here.

Leather and synthetic materials comprise the motorcycle boots of today. Leather has a tendency to stiffen, resulting in inflexibility and a loss of the comfortable feeling they once had. Waterproofing often helps top of the line boots to last indefinitely. Gore-Tex is one of the stylish modern synthetic materials designed to last, stay flexible and hold up against weather. Compare prices online while you are browsing through the different styles, construction and prices. Good motorcycle boots are one of the pieces of equipment, like your helmet, that must be of good quality and construction. You want them designed to protect you. Buy a satisfactory middle of the line style now and save for the next step up.

Just because you currently own a size large doesn't mean that is what you will wear in a different brand.

For the very best results, try on motorcycle helmets with any accessories you will typically have while riding. As an example, a lot of women like to wear their hair in a ponytail but may have it straight while trying on a helmet. A motorcycle helmet has to fit really securely. Make sure it surrounds your entire head. The chin straps are adjustable, but put them in place to ensure you can get them tight enough to fit your face shape. You should also try on the same brand of helmet in one size larger and one size smaller just to make sure you do in fact have the ideal fitting helmet for your skull.

For extra comfort, consider acquiring a motorcycle helmet that has air vents. You can easily slide them opened or closed to allow more air to circulate while you have it on.

You will discover motorbike helmets are made from a variety of materials. For the best in safety and quality, decide on one that is made from organic fibreglass and layers of carbon fibres. This combination produces a very impressive shock absorbent shell. You also want to make sure the liner attributes a three layer system. This will offer you further shock absorption.

If you plan to ride your motorbike a fair amount, consider getting a motorbike helmet that allows you to simply change the visor. This is a fantastic option for riding during the day and the night. Make sure the visors are fog resistant and offer impact resistance.

buying a quality helmet that has the protection you need while riding a motorcycle isn't going to be cheap, but it may be one of the most crucial investments you make in your life. What A Contemporary Solar Battery Charger Could Do

By Candace Goods

The modern vehicle motorcycle battery charger has come quite a distance since its ancestors and the modern day's products consist of services and features we might have never dared to dream of a previously. Therefore, when searching for a brand new motorcycle battery charger that guarantees your way of transportation, whether it's a vehicle, motorcycle, ATV or even speedboat, won't be caught dead in the water, here are some of the major elements to think about. Although not all of them are critical for a motorcycle battery charger, the stark reality is which they promote versatility and commodity.

For example, in order to make certain you are employing the right voltage for each situation, the motorcycle battery charger needs to display it precisely using either the 6-volt light emitting diode or the 12-volt light emitting diode. Furthermore, ascertaining whether the motorcycle battery charger is continually working or happens to be in standby mode ought to be reflected using the appropriate Light emitting diodes as well. Though this might not appear to be a lot, the reality is that having the right indications on which actions the motorcycle battery charger is performing is a central feature for any modern version. To add, the charger should give you the option of switching between voltage classes by pressing a single button.

Joining and detaching the clamps of the solar battery charger must be done fairly simple and without much effort on your part. So, proper padding is necessary, despite the fact that the electrical flow passing across the wires is not life-threatening, as mishandling the clams might have unpleasant consequences. This part becomes a lot more critical when you are operating the battery charge with wet hands, as when you are not touching the exposed area of the clamps, the moisture produces a short-circuit. But, a complete and proper insulation helps to ensure that the accident danger is reduced to nothing.

Fuse protection is yet another feature normally within all modern motorcycle battery charger models. The requirement of including the fuse protection within the design of the charge arises from decreasing the risk of a short circuit, ergo exponentially increasing lifespan of the device. To add, in an effort to make sure that your battery charge has the capacity to withstand even the toughest environmental elements, the casing needs to be fashioned from a tough alloy. Without those two safety features, exercising an excessive amount of stress on the charger will in all probability reduce its performance and shorten its lifespan a lot.

Picking a vehicle motorcycle battery charger ought to be carried out in line with the aforementioned qualities, as well as the charging speed, interactive interface, connection extenders and general effectiveness. So, to buy a motorcycle battery charger that will help you within the hardest situations, keep these specifications in mind. Aside from that, it generally does not hurt reading several specialized reviews about the models you may like to try before reaching a conclusion. However, although customer testimonies are a terrific way to compare different brands and models, getting a suitable motorcycle battery charger for the form of vehicle must be done taking into account an expert's opinion too.

By Khoei Draker

Owning proper sportbike apparel is a chief element of experiencing the adrenaline and rush of sportbike riding. Overall, whatever the apparel, sportbike gear ought to mix safety and style. Driving a sportbike can be dangerous, therefore selecting proven, top of the line attire can help make sure you walk away from no matter what might arise.

The list of vital attire can be a little bit frustrating for a new rider, particularly given the variety of motorcycle accessories that are vital or just great to have. The choices feature pants and jackets with inbuilt armor or molded foam padding at knee, elbow, and hip, was well as armor that is sold separately to go over unprotected apparel. Just as you choose with care among the selection of motorcycle parts to improve or make needed repairs to your bike, the same care should be put into picking out gear for the body.

The costliest gear provides the protection of leather that is created to provide the pliability you need for comfort and rapid reaction times. The best brands sell jackets and pants with zippers that permit for their connection so a secure fit is assured with no chance of exposing vulnerable skin.

For people who would rather ride in regular casual clothing instead of a full sportbike outfit, the accessible array of armor is varied and covers all of the defenseless areas. Numerous are multi-purpose, like protective armor vests that guard the ribs, chest, and back. Armored shirts can also be worn with casual clothing, or padded pants worn beneath other gear.

Other pieces of protective apparel are made for a specific part of the body, intended to protect just the tailbone, or shielding solely the back using an effective series of locking plates. Leg protection ranges from knee sliders, to lesser kneepads, to bionic knee guards that can be hinged like medieval armor to permit easy mobility.

When shopping for sportbike apparel, the hands and feet must also be remembered. When you really want to protect your hands on a sport bike, any old leather gloves will not suffices. Padding for protection should be balanced by ventilation so your hands stay comfortable and do not swelter. The fit should be snug and secure without hindering motion, protection given to the fingers and knuckles while allowing full flexibility. Sport riding shoes should take similar care in balancing comfort and extra protection.

Leather Material Vests - A Standard That Never Goes Out Of Form

By Doug Taylor

A style that has been made standard by bikers, stars, and everyday people is using motorcycle vests. These vests are leather material, making them available in the standard colors of black, brown, and grey. Some people normally like to have their vests custom-made to best fit the style, cut, and size that they desire.

Leather vests could be stylish in popular lifestyle today, but they come with a background. Before lots of people were wearing these vests in order to look trendy, cowboys and bikers were wearing them out of necessity because they often traveled long distances with their bodies being typically exposed to several weather and natural conditions.

In the past, bikers were most identified as the only gang to wear heavy leather motorcycle vests as they required them for two good reasons. The first (and key reason) was mainly because there was a necessity for outerwear that might help motorists to remain warm in cold weather, while allowing them to move their arms more conveniently than they could when using a jacket.

Being able to move the arms without much problem is an essential element of being a motorcyclist since it helps riders to steer more comfortably and react quickly to evade accidents. Secondly, by wearing a motorcycle vest, it was a great way to show which biker group an individual belonged to, as they normally would place signs that featured their membership logo on their vests.

Despite popular perception, bikers were not the first to use these vests. The fact is, cowboys were actually wearing this trend before motorcycles were even conceived. Yet, as time gone by, the unique nature of this apparel began to give way to the general public of society as it gained acceptance with biker club members and celebs.

The demand for this genuine trendy item stemmed from the fact that it could be donned with many different dresses in various types of weather. During the summer time, leather vests can be worn as a single item, while in the winter, they can be donned to keep warm or as a layering piece.

Also, leather motorcycle vests are unisex items, making them an option for both men and women. People who want to wear vests but are not able to buy them in expensive leather also have alternatives. These vests can be purchased in synthetic leather, which is often cheaper, and just as reliable as real leather, with good care.

An Introduction to Moped Motorcycles

By Ram Collins

As compared with a four wheel vehicle, motorcycles have better benefits such as more affordable and much easier to keep in good shape. Furthermore, they consume less fuel as compared with a car.

Another advantage of a motorcycle from a car is their size. Because motorcycles are smaller, they can be easily navigated or manipulated through traffic. With a lot of types of motorcycles out today, moped motorcycles are one of the greatest.

This type of motorcycle generates less power and can even be manually driven with the use of pedals by just a flick of the switch. The term moped is derived from two words "motor" and "pedal" mixed together.

Moped motorcycles have a lot of advantages over regular motorcycles. Their small size and small capacity engine power enables them avoid safety restrictions and licensing charges that are needed of larger motorcycles.

Despite their running speeds of only up to 40mi/her, mopeds are highly fuel-effective. In fact, a single fuel tank can reach up to 220 mi. Having said this feature, mopeds are ideal to use mainly due to the energy crisis that the present time face.

In the US, the glory of moped motorcycles have been lessened or diminished due to the creation of new and better fuel-efficient four wheel vehicles as well as the reduction of gas charges.

Despite this fact, a lot of countries still utilize these vehicles, majority being young individuals. This is due to the lower age requirements that the law imposes to drive these vehicles as compared for bigger cars or bikes. They are considered safer than larger vehicles because of their tinier size as well as reduced engine capacity.

A lot of countries use the moped for diverse and logical utilities. An example would be on Asian countries such as in Malaysia and Thailand whereas they use the mopeds to transport deliveries over short distances. They strap on baskets on either the back or the front side of the vehicle where the merchandise are to be placed.

With this kind of popularity that moped motorcycles have in these parts of the world, some even allot parking areas just for their moped vehicles.

In the Philippines, these vehicles are given a touch of artistic designs by strapping accessories such as stereo systems and neon lights which make even this boring vehicle shine. However, it is also used for a bad and illegal purpose which is street racing.

When planning to drive a moped motorcycle, it is ideal that you first do your research on the various laws regarding the driving of a moped since some parts of the globe tend to employ different policies regarding this matter.

Helpful Tips For Choosing Great Sportbike Clothing

By Khoei Draker

You might have heard some people say that the sportbike is only as good as the person riding it, but others mention that even the best rider is not much without the right equipment. So, you if you want to deck out your new bike, you are going to need to concentrate a little more on things other than just the motorcycle parts. This means sportbike clothing. With the right clothing, your ride will be much more enjoyable and safer.

The first component of any good sportbike clothing is the helmet. More than other motorcycle accessories, the helmet is your main protection in case of a crash, and thus you should take the time to select the proper one. Ideally, that means choosing a full-face helmet that is DOT certified and fits snugly. For more comfort, options like vents can be chosen as well. However, some would find the full-face helmet to be too claustrophobic or too hot. Half or partial face helmets can be chosen in these situations, though they do not offer as much protection.

The second component of sportbike clothing is the pair of bike boots. And while people sometimes want to focus on stylized designs, it is important to consider protective value as well. That is because the biker's feet are the busiest during any ride, and it is at risk from crush damage during a crash (like when the bike topples over the feet). To choose this well, there should be more emphasis on impact resistance, as well as durability and good ventilation to prevent excessive sweat accumulation and discomfort of the feet.

The third component is the pair of gloves. They are important because they protect the thin skin of the hands and fingers from scrapes and wind burn. They also provide protection from cold and wet weather, which could potentially numb the fingers or make them slick. That could reduce their reaction time, and be potentially dangerous at high speeds. To choose them, pick the gloves which have good knuckle protection, good wrist support, good waterproofing, and supple grip for the palms.

Then there is the racing suit. This suit will protect your entire body from scraps with a built in added protection for your shoulders, elbows and knees. Generally, your three material choices for the racing suit will be nylon, Kevlar and leather. Many find that the leather is the more stylish choice, but it is less resistant to abrasion than the other choices in material. There is also the choices of high density plastic or even titanium for your elbows and knees.

Now that you have a bit more of an understanding of the sportbike clothing that is necessary, you are going to want to start your shopping. Just remember, you will want to steer clear of all of the graphical designs if you are trying to watch your budget as the more plain looking sets will be easier on the wallet.

Auto Shop Safety Tips For Car And Bike Owners

By Ian Tate

Here are some basic safety tips when working on your car or motorcycle in the garage or automotive shop.

Give the vehicle ample support. Please, and we implore you, do not skimp either by using a bottle jack that comes stock with your automobile or by using a jack made by Jack himself, assuming that is your first name. What you should use would be a floor jack - not just any floor jack, but one that can hold a ton and a half weight. Instead, use a floor jack capable of supporting 3,000 pounds or more and use jack stands to keep the car up there. You wouldn't want your vehicle flattening you like a pancake because you didn't provide ample support, right?

Wear the right safety gear. This one seems obvious, but most mechanics just grab some air tools and go to work. Why, a pair of safety glasses will keep your eyes safe and won't cost you your life savings! It only takes a little metal shaving to stick in your eye and cause a lot of damage. Also, mechanic's gloves may be necessary as well for your repair work. They combine ample protection for your hands with light weight that allows you to feel around things. Consider this if you don't want your engine block stained with human blood - yours, that is.

Use the right tools. Many people feel the urge to experiment or make do with the tools they presently have at their disposal. In that case, you want to exhaust all possible resources and get the right tools A-SAP! Not using the right torque wrench is one of the best examples. You can easily damage an expensive cylinder head on your engine if they are not torqued properly. And don't settle either with transmission jacks. Transmissions are made of soft aluminum and can be easily damaged.

Have a reliable manual. This is a tip that could greatly reduce stress and wasted money down the drain. Since this is a general patronage article, we've got three letters for you instead of the usual four - RTM - Read The Manual, auto shop and garage mechanics! Your manual will be the gift that keeps on giving if you think of it that way - we recommend Chilton's venerable manuals, an old reliable dating back to the time of our youth - or even earlier.

Presence of mind! Smarts and awareness may be your most formidable tools out there. You'll be surprised at the Homer Simpson-esque things many people do when working on their cars - such as wearing a necktie (why should you wear one anyway when fixing your vehicle) while operating a running engine, or filling 'er up as their lungs get acquainted with tar and nicotine.

Motorcycle Loading Ramps - These Are The Features You Want

By Chris Station

To carry your motorcycle safely in the back of your pickup, whether you're going to the trail, the track or to a bike show, motorcycle loading ramps are a true necessity. And its especially true if you have a lot of money wrapped up in your bike. To protect your investment, you should seriously consider getting a top quality loading ramp.

It's important to use the right ramp for loading and unloading. One important factor to look at is the height from the ground right up to the truck bed. Another factor is the size and the weight of the bike. The rule of thumb is that the heavier the bike, the more of a challenge it can be loading or unloading. The risk of any damage occurring can be lessened considerably by using the right ramp.

Motorcycle loading ramps are made from metal, quite often aluminum. To get the best traction, ramps frequently have either a kind of textured surface or else holes at equal intervals along the ramp.

A really nice feature to go for, especially if you usually ride your bike on and off the back of the truck, is a safety strap. The strap is designed so it attaches to the back of your vehicle to prevent the ramp from slipping during loading.

The best ramps come with rubber padding on the part that leans on the truck. This is used to stabilize the ramp during loading and it also helps prevent scratches to your truck.

Motorcycle loading ramps are usually available in one of two main styles.

The first is referred to as a non folding ramp. These ramps will have one long straight span. They are often manufactured out of aluminum. In general, an aluminum loading ramp is able to handle loads of 500 pounds or more. Aluminum is the preferred kind of material used because of its relative light weight. That makes it easy to maneuver especially when you are on your own. The spans may be perforated to give more traction when loading motorcycles.

A second type is a folding ramp. Folding ramps are made so you can fold them into two or three sections. For that reason, they are easy to set up and are equally easy to store. Folding motorcycle ramps are often rated for a greater weight capacity than are comparable non folding ramps. Because of that they're just right when it comes time to load larger motorcycles or bigger ATVs, especially when you need some extra width.

With folding ramps, aluminum remains the most commonly used material. Not only is it strong, but it's much lighter to maneuver around compared to ramps made with heavier metals. In addition, aluminum also stays rust free.

Another option is a ramp extender. With an extender on the ramp you get an inclined ramp and a bed extender. This can be pretty useful in a situation where your bike extends beyond the available truck bed.

Motorcycle loading ramps come in a wide variety of designs and styles. They have a lot of useful features which will ensure the safe and easy loading of your valuable motorcycle.

Advantages of Acquiring a Solar Battery Charger

By Jennifer Mcgrevy

Probably one of the most disappointing things is always to get stuck somewhere because of a drained battery, so you need to always invest in a car battery charger. When one is speaking about a car battery charger for a car or motorcycle, most people start thinking about either extreme sports activities or off-roading. Despite the fact that they're situations in which a car battery charger will be needed most, it doesn't mean that you don't need one yourself for daily usage. This type of car battery charger can come in handy when your car or motorcycle battery runs dry, which often happen very suddenly.

Yet another instance where a car battery charger will be useful is when you go camping or on a road trip. On these events, one might be using electrical devices which can be connected to a car battery. In the event that you were to ever run dry of energy, you would not have any way to keep utilizing the devices. By getting a car battery charger, it is simple to recharge the battery at a suitable power outlet and you would be good to go. Despite the fact that there are many reasoned explanations why one would desire a car battery charger, it doesn't mean that you should go and obtain any one of them. Much like other items in life, it takes a little bit of effort to find the suitable car battery charger.

When you're searching for a auto battery charger, always ensure that you get one with a warranty. The reason for this is that most of them might break a great deal, particularly if you buy a decreased quality auto battery charger. In order to make sure that you possess some margin with regards to fixing it, always make certain that whatever you get features a warranty so when it becomes spoilt you could have it fixed at no cost. However in the same vein constantly make sure that you are acquainted with the terms of the warranty. One trick that frequently works is to obtain a auto battery charger with an extended warranty. When a auto battery charger has an extended warranty, most of the time this means that the manufacturer has taken enough time to build a quality product, and therefore; he or she is confident that it would not fail any time in the future.

Another thing to consider when investing in a auto battery charger is its performance parameters. For instance, you need to find out how long it would take to charge the battery of your choice. Knowing this has various implications for different people. For instance, if you are an off-roader who would like to have a device that will charge his battery in a short while, you would tend to go for those that charge batteries swiftly. If, on the other hand, you might be a far more casual user, you might as well be satisfied with the normal ones which charge the battery in longer time but cost a lower amount.

It's also advisable to always make sure that the car battery charger you obtain is intelligent enough to manage your battery. For example, it should not keep charging it when it is full, and it must also manage to detect any difficulties with the battery, and then correct them. All this helps to ensure that your batteries go longer, and you would not need to keep replacing them often.

A Buyers Guide to Motor Scooters!

By Leland Poliks

Before the 1920s it was an easy decision, a foot-powered push scooter or none at all. But once Gino Tsai from Shanghai, Taiwan developed the Razor scooter it changed everything. His motor scooters became popular so quickly there were people waiting in line for six months before they could get one.

In the 1950s companies like Vespa in the UK started selling the first of their gas motor scooters. It was a big hit at the 1950 Motorcycle Show and quickly became a big hit in the UK as well. Vespa sold over 125,000 in the UK between the years of 1950 to 1958. Piaggio from Vespa and Lambretta from Innocenti started selling their models in Italy and France too, quickly becoming the vehicles that everyone had to own. By the early 1950s the sale of motor scooters topped 1 million a year in France alone. Because of its popularity other countries such as France and Germany decided to get in on the boom by manufacturing their own models.

Today, after more than 50 years since the first gas scooters appeared, there are many different makes and models. We have electric, gas powered, foldable, mobility and utility motor scooters dotting the globe. There are specialized scooters for just about every task. They have become a worldwide phenomenon because they are cheap to own, economical to operate, are very handy and functional, and most of all they are a lot of fun. But with all of the makes and models which one is right for you?

Let's start with the different types. Gas motor scooters are the fastest around. They will take you longer distances and reach higher speeds than any of the other varieties. There are smaller and lighter models that will be perfect for running errands around town while the larger and heavier touring models will take you on longer trips. Plus, the larger the gas tank the farther you can travel before needing to stop at a service station.

Electric varieties are a little more economical to run, but will usually travel only about 10 or 15 miles before needing a recharge. Their battery capacity has improved dramatically over the years, but they cannot be taken for long trips due to the fact that their batteries will need recharging periodically. However, for short trips around the city they are wonderful little vehicles. Plus, most scooters have a large storage capacity under the seat so they are ideal for trips to the grocery store or for other light shopping sprees.

The elderly or handicapped typically use what is referred to as mobility scooters. These are usually electric models and have 3 or 4 wheels for extra stability. These models give the elderly or disabled the ability to get about in their homes or around the neighborhood more easily. Without mobility scooters many of the disability-impaired would be confined to their beds.

Another very popular type is the foldable scooter. These are very small and are made for short trips around town. They are particularly popular among the younger crowds. The beauty of these models is that they are extremely compact and can be folded for storage in small places. If you work just a few miles from your home you can travel to work on your folding scooter and then fold it up and put it underneath your desk at work. Very handy.

There are also utility scooters which can be used for many different purposes. They can be used as golf carts or for hauling things. Many big businesses use these types for getting around their factories. Schools use them for driving through the parking lot, checking for cars that shouldn't be there. Major league sports stadiums use them to drive people from one place to another. These are wonderful vehicles that can be used for a variety of reasons.

Once you've decided which type is right for your needs the next step is to figure out what options, if any, you would like included on your vehicle. Of course you can choose from many different colors and designs, but there are other options available to you. You can choose from the many varieties of covers, locks (for security), cases or side bags for storage, helmets, seats, handgrips, windshields or windscreens, backrests for touring, chrome kits, rear luggage racks and many more options. The list of accessories can go on for quite some time.

As a rule of thumb first choose the type of scooter you want, whether it be electric, gas, foldable or utility. This is the easy part because the type you purchase will depend upon your needs. Once that decision has been made look at several popular models in your area and decide which one looks and feels right to you. Most have accessories that are manufactured for a specific model so accessories cannot be decided upon until you know which motor scooter you are going to buy. Once you've decided which accessories you want for the model you chose it's a simple matter of driving your scooter out of the dealership. And it's nothing but fun from there on out.

The Latest Generation of Harley Motorcycles

By Jane Claire

Harley Davidson started in the year 1903 with the united efforts of William Harley, Arthur and Walter Davidson and Henry Melk. Well known for their cruiser-form bikes, Harley Davidson has been one of the two enduring mass-manufactured motorcycle varieties in the United States, supported by Victory Motorcycles.

Having a perennial position in the history of the US, the "hog" emblem of Harley Davidson motorcycles are one of the most distinguished trademarks associated with the US. This symbol is also something that a lot of drivers want to accomplish within their lifetime.

Classic Harley Davidson motorcycles integrate a V-twin engine that is located parallel to each other on a 45 degree angle which aligns into the letter V. The sound that is created by HD motorcycles plus the V-twin engines it integrates are two of the most widely recognized features of Harley motorcycles, or also known as a chopper, big bike or a hog.

Over time since its inception, the motorcycle manufacturer has come up with dozens of motorcycle designs. Here are the five current model designations of Harley motorcycles.

Dyna

This model is engineered with big-twin engines while its designs start off with a FXD like in a FXDL Low Rider. The transmission in Dyna model HD motorcycle also accommodates the engine's oil. Furthermore, this motorcycle can be easily differentiated from a Sportster model in that the size of the engine is larger as compared with a Sportster.

Sportster

Considered as one of the fastest Harley Davidson motorcycles, the Sportster incorporates an 833 cc engine and is considered as one of the most popular models of the Harley Davidson saga.

Softail

Softalil Harley motorcycles utilize Harley's trademark bit-twin engines, and boast Harley Davidson's trademark look as part of its main selling point. They boast the classic Harley motorcycle heritage, and come with optional parts for customers to choose from, depending on their respective wanted looks for their Softail Harley motorcycles.

Touring

Touring Harley motorcycles are also referred to as "dressers" as they are the "most cruiser-looking" for Harley motorcycles, featuring wide rear areas for bags and other items to be loaded on.

Revolution

This type of Harley motorcycle uses the revolution engine and has fewer similarities with the classic HD appearance. This breed of HD motorcycles integrates a liquid cooling system plus an overhead cams and fuel injection system. Effortlessly recognizable by the 60 degree V-twin engines, this line of Harley motorcycles are designed to battle against Japanese muscle bikes.

With these five major classifications of Harvey Davidson models, there is surely one that will catch an individual's attention if they are planning to buy their own HD motorcycle near the future.

Buying The Right Biker Clothing

By Chloe Gib

It is important to choose the right biker clothing. While it is important to look good the key consideration is safety. It cannot be forgotten that your clothes will often be the thing that cushion any impact in the event of an accident.

Alternatively it may call to mind motorcycle gangs. They are often depicted in television series and in films with long hair and beards. They often have customized jackets with the logo of their chosen gang.

The hands and feet are also important areas to keep covered. Thick gloves and boots help to make sure they are not exposed while riding. This is especially important in colder weather. Equally you want to ensure that you do not hurt yourself while riding. For example if you go traveling it is best not to wear open toed shoes while riding your bike.

Jackets are often the most iconic items associated with motorbikes. Leather is generally the material people often associate with riding motorbikes. However textile jackets are often best for keeping dry while riding in wet weather.

While this may sound obvious you need to remember that when you are riding a motorbike you will not have the same shock absorption or safety as you would while driving a car. This means that you effectively have to be responsible for your own protection. Having your arms and legs exposed is an unnecessary risk. While you may experience some discomfort in warmer weather, it is better to stay alive.

As with any clothes you should make sure that they fit. When trying them on in a store make sure that they grip tightly to you. While it may seem awkward try to move around as much as possible to get an idea of how it reacts to the sensation of movement. Anything that comes loose is probably not suited to you.

When choosing biker clothing it is important to look at the safety guidelines and recommendations in your local area. Branded clothes should follow these guidelines as closely as possible. If you are not sure you should discuss this in a specialist store. Look online to compare products and see customer review websites to get the best possible deal and find the right clothes to keep you safe while riding.
