How to Make Money with Using Motorbikes for Entrepreneurs

By Jay White

When Tazio Secchiaroli caught the Egyptian King Farouk on film overturning tables in a restaurant in a fit of anger and then, later than same evening in 1958, captured a snapshot of a public spat between actors Anita Ekberg and Anthony Steele, he could have had no way of knowing that he would be memorialized two years later and forever in the 1960 Fellini film 'La Dolce Vita'. The name of his character was Paparazzzo, derived from an irritating, buzzy mosquito. How to make money with motorcycles was something photographers would eventually learn because the terms, 'paparazzi' and 'motorcycle' eventually became inextricably linked.

Other notable 'pap's' of the Golden Age of the Paparazzi, none of whom were ever seen anywhere a motorcycle, included Edward Quinn, famous for his serene shot of Kim Novak in a lift during the Cannes Film Festival, also in the 1950s, and Ron Gallela, who lost five teeth to the fist of Marlon Brando in 1973. In later photographs alongside the film icon, Gallela is seen wearing a crash helmet (one step closer to the actual use of motorcycles). The photo-stalker trade evolved to become synonymous with motorcycles.

Plucky Elisabeth Anne Carell, eight year-old offspring of 'Forty-year Old Virgin', Steve, found a way to make money with motorcycles by setting up a lemonade stand in front of the family's home in Los Angeles. Half an hour later, she was USD 30 richer from selling her product to customers that included neighbor Billy Ray Cyrus, waiting paparazzi and officers of the Los Angeles Police Department.

When Brad Pitt was forced by circumstances to hitch a lift with a Pap in 2009, a new industry, the motorbike taxi, was born. A service now exists in London transporting passengers through busy traffic, often cutting journey times in half. By day, you chauffeur captains of industry from one meeting to another; by night, you propel your compact, folding motor scooter to the pub, pop it in the trunk and escort the same, executive safely home, thus saving him a citation (or worse).

If taking compromising snapshots of celebrities and selling lemonade to thirsty coppers don't appeal to you, try painting motorbikes. Apply your inspired images directly onto the bike itself. A fuel tank makes a perfect canvas. Alternatively, scan your creation onto a computer and present your wife with a set of place mats bearing illustrations of your his 'n' hers hogs.

Trafficking in spare parts can be a nice little earner if you are someone who likes taking bikes to pieces (preferably ones you own). Ducati chain sprockets are selling over the internet for just over GBP 80.

When other methods fail or if they just don't appeal to you, there is always the prospect of penning a philosophical memoir, sticking the word, 'motorcycle' in the title and spawning a mass best-seller.
