Misconceptions About Safety While Riding Motorcycles Riverside

By Gretchen Burton

Myths about riding motorcycles and being safe about it abound in plenty. These myths can endanger people to the extent of injuring them. As such destroying the lies and misrepresentations on motorcycles Riverside riding can save lives.

A principal fiction about this is that all drivers want to injure you as you go about your cycling. While this is outrageously false, it is also easily explainable. Drivers sometimes cannot see cyclists hidden by pillars or awkward angles or such. Cyclists should thus be warned to wear bright colors always.

It is an unknown fact that loud pipes do not actually help save lives. Whether it is because of the loud cycles or because of the fatigue caused by noise already, drivers do not pay much attention to loud horns. Either wear a loud jacket or a brighter helmet color.

Contrary to what most people know, helmets are not a cause of neck injury. Necks do not break because of someone being thrown off a motorbike-however heavy it may be. In fact most helmets are designed to minimize the impact on hitting the ground. Helmets also improve seeing and hearing because they absorb wind noise.

Drinking and driving are an awful cocktail. This is true for bikes too. Nobody is sharp after drinking and accidents are encouraged by drunkenness. This is exacerbated by the fact that older people do not metabolize alcohol as well. Because of this concentration and focus while riding is vastly reduced this causes a greater risk of collision and even injury.

Perhaps surprisingly, lane-splitting is actually quite safe to do. Studies conducted in the only state where it is legal showed that it is better than staying in heavy and slow-moving traffic. Trouble is most motorists hate it.

Another fake notion is that riders are better off with traditional brakes than with anti-lock ones. Research done on dry and flat pavements shows that those with anti-lock brakes stopped at a shorter distance than those without. The tests were not done on wet surfaces but it is certain that the brakes would have lessened risk of accident here too.

These are some widespread wrong beliefs about motorcycling safety people have. There are possibly more than these but in case of hearing any strange ideas, just ensure you ask for statistical backing first. Operating motorcycles Riverside must be done with all caution and facts straight.
