With all of the options out there, it's tough to know which scooter is best for you personally. The fast answer is, there are a few good scooters out there, it just depends on what is most important to you when you're ready to buy one so you do not get stuck with something you do not want. After working on scooters for over 10 years, I for sure have my favorites, and here they are:
If you don't have a large budget, let's say under a grand, I'd go with a Paparazzi. Yes it's Chinese, and yes that is the reason why it's under $1000. If you have to spend no more than a thousand bucks, you are pretty much always going to end up with something Chinese. But it doesn't mean you have to get a sucky scooter. Paparazzi models are good scooters. If you've done your research you will notice, there are 3 other scooter models out there that look very similar to the Paparazzi, that is because they're almost identical. The plans for this scooter were shared among makers, the difference is in the engines each one decided to include. Of the 3 options out there, the Paparazzi has the best engine, and it has a 1-year warranty.
If quality and reliability is most important to you, then there is no question, I'd go with the Cali Classic. It'll put you out about two grand, but it is an excellent scooter. Lance Power Sports definitely cranks out good scooters. They sincerely care about quality, and spend a lot more time than other manufacturers in making sure their scooters run great, they look great, and they will last a really long time.
The Cali Classic comes loaded with a 24-month warranty, 90 miles per gallon, awesome color options, and a solid ceramic SYM engine. If you take care of your scooter with regular oil changes, the engine on these babies will last for years and years to come. And don't be mixed up by the 125cc, they still cruise with a top speed of 60 MPH. If you are serious about getting good scooters, the Cali Classics are the way to go.
So just to sum up everything: if you are going to spend under a $1000 bucks, go with the Paparazzi. If you want quality, and you can spend about $2000 dollars, go with the Cali Classic. Both are good scooters, it just depends on what you are able to afford.
