How To Create More Demand For Custom Patches

By Johnny Parsons

With the many advancements in embroidery technology and computer graphics, creating your own custom embroidered patches is now more common than ever before. Once the customer has designed their custom patch, it will be created by the patch manufacturer and then shipped directly to the customer. This is something that is just so easy to do. For patch collectors this is a great way to create demand by creating custom patches.

No matter what type of things that are collected, what is the main aim of the person collecting? It is to get your hands on the rarest and most beautiful items of whatever it is that you collect. There is no difference when it comes to embroidered patches. So imagine what it would be like if you could create your own custom patches for particular events and only create a limited number of them. Truth be known, it's very possible to do successfully if you approach it the right way.

Design Is Everything

When it comes to collecting patches, it is a lot to do with the event that is symbolized as well as the beauty of the artwork. There are many reasons to create custom patches; it could be that you want to commemorate a specific event that is coming up in 2012 or it could be that you want to make a statement about something you believe in. Regardless of the purpose of the patch, it won't be collectible unless the design is attractive. So in order to get others interested in your patch, you will have to make sure that the person who designs them is good at his or her job.

When we say a good artist we're talking about someone with an eye for conceptualization and the means to transfer a concept to the embroidered patch medium. There are a number of important elements when it comes to embroidered patches and these are the detail, the shape and the color. Creating patches that are going to grab the attention of the people who are browsing your collection of patches is very important. A patch which simply fades into the background is one that's not going to garner many sales or trading attention.

Go for Limited Numbers

It is also important to think about limited numbers of custom patches if you want to generate more interest. Obviously by 'limited numbers', we don't actually mean a dozen or less. You will not be able to create enough demand if your numbers are that small. But you could find that just having a few hundred will work very well. The way to get started is to order maybe two or three dozen at a time and start selling them at cost price. All you have to do is have a good design and make sure you market them properly and then you can be sure of creating a good design. You will then be able to put up the value.

Limited numbers also dictates that a special event you're commemorating be one that is limited as well. An event that does not happen very often is a good place to start; think of the presidential elections that will be held in 2012 and that are only held every four years. Creating embroidered patches that endorse or slam specific candidates is a great idea that will generate sales in the short term and collectible value in the long term.
