By Darnell Neypacs Ney

With spring here and this year's rally season just around the corner, countless bikers head on the roads and byways that run across this glorious nation with motorcycle helmets and back packs. We're all making our itineraries or perhaps dreaming of an awesome riding season filled with reminiscences that will be cherished for a lifetime. There are so many destinations to visit and things to discover that it can be mind boggling to try which direction to ride. The final thing on our brain is having our fun time cut off by something as simple as a traffic stop. When you are riding through this great country, each county has their own regulations pertaining to motorcycles and you have to know that simply because your bike is legal in your county, it may not be in others. Something as simple as handlebar height can get you a ticket. After you have been stopped, the police officer can start probing and a chain of offenses may be discovered in addition. Before leaving, look into the laws and regulations where you'll be driving.

Nationwide

Over the past couple of years, we've discovered motorcycle-only check points. The question is, are these stops authorized? Well, the problem here is that while our state reps try to manage things out, we might be taking one on the chin. We hope, you never have to be delayed at any stops, particularly a motorcycle-only stop. If this happens to you, it certainly is better if you have your paperwork ready and if you are cited for something in an event of a checkpoint, please don't sign that you're guilty. Request a hearing and take time to give it a shot with the judge. This can tie up the legal court system and at least you've got a strike to voice out and there is a record of the judge's decision. In addition ,, remember to write your representative and tell them that you find your civil rights are being dishonored and you want them cease this type of harassment. If you're roaming, this may be not possible. If you've been involved in a motorcycle-only checkpoint stop, we would like to hear your story.

Virginia

The A.M.A. announced that on February 13, 2012, the Virginia State Senate with one voice authorized , the bill, HB-187, that forbids motorcycle-only checkpoints and now the bill heads for Governor Bob McDonnell for consideration. If you want to join the campaign, please simply call the governor and let him know you desire him to sign HB-187 into law. You can contact Governor Bob McDonnell at (804) 786-2211. This bill was published mainly because the Arlington County Police Department in Virginia carried out a motorcycle-only checkpoint within the Rolling Thunder on May 28th. The state of North Carolina has recently authorized a similar bill into law that forbids motorcycle-only checkpoints.

This may be a real great demonstration of our Motorcycle Rights Organizations taking action. Several people reported to the A.M.A with regards to checkpoints and a call to step up went out. House delegate, C. Todd Gilbert, introduced H-B 187 and with your support, his efforts combined with the motorcycle group wins a major battle. If you drive, you must decide what is better for you. To be sure that your message is recognized, be sure to take time to get involved. If you allow others do the battle for you, guarantee that they are really on the very same page just like you. May very well not have the similar view on every issue, but at least your side will be recognized.

E16 Ethanol

Moreover, the A.M.A. has reported that the house board handed down a bill to require the E.P.A. to research self-sufficient scientific assessment about the effects of 15% ethanol. The bill, H.R.3199, was designed by Representative Jim Sensenbrenner (R- WI.). The E.P.A. only used one US DOE evaluation and released with haste this new source to the market. This bill too requires our support. Not just our bikes, but every gas engine is at risk of major issues that will likely be caused by 15% ethanol. Our engines were not intended for this type of fuel. The E.P.A. should not have given the okay to produce this type of gasoline without having been tested thoroughly. Using this E15 fuel will void manufacturers' warranties and will ultimately ruin gas engines not manufactured for this kind of fuel. There is certainly no motorcycle on the list of motor vehicles that were manufactured for E15.

Please look at the gasoline pumps. This fuel may be at your preferred filling station now. Air cooled engines are especially in risk along with high performance and off-road engines. This gasoline will burn too hot and cause engine damage or breakdown. Study your owner's handbook when you've got any questions concerning the effects of E15 with your engines. We merely like to give thanks to the readers for presenting their support. The next generation will likely have countless battles to pass through while protecting our motorcycle proper rights. We would like to thank our service men and women, present and past, that secure and fight for our own freedom.
