How To Take Care Of Your Motorcycle's Engine

By Cathy Greene

Almost every rider would agree to the fact that engine is the most important motorcycle part. Engine is the heart of your motorbike. Hence it goes without saying that you need to take extreme care of the engine. Here are few tips that will help you keep your motorcycle in shape.

Lubrication is the key to a well-run engine. The lubrication should be dense enough to hold the parts together but have enough fluidity to travel through small joints.

You should change the motor cycle engine oil every 3-6 months. Ensure that you use good quality engine oil. You don't want to spoil your engine by using low quality oil.

Your motorcycle's fluids are also important to maintain. If you want your engine to run efficiently you should only use the fluids recommended by the motorbike company.

The motorcycle chain should also be considered when maintaining your vehicle. Don't underestimate its value in how your motorcycle runs. The chain helps the motorcycle to transfer the engine power to the rear wheel. Always give your engine chain a close examination before and after a long trip to make sure it's in good shape. A defective chain can lead to accidents. Don't skip this step.

Fuel: No matter how cliche' it sounds, using substandard fuel is like eating stale food. Use a high quality fuel to ensure that you have a smooth ride without hurting your engine.

Don't assume that you need to by the highest grade of fuel on the market. That doesn't mean it's right for your bike. Buy whatever type of fuel the manufacturer recommends.

Likewise when you go to purchase motorcycle parts, be sure to buy them from a licensed dealer. It's a waste of time and money to try to repair the damage that duplicate or second hand parts can cause.
