Consider Saving Money By Riding A Motorcycle

By Kurt Santas

There are all kinds of reasons to buy a motorcycle; saving money by riding a Motorcycle may be one of the foremost reasons. No matter what you are doing these days, the cost of doing it has probably gone up. So now everyone is looking at ways to spend less money on the everyday things they have to do. And transportation is a major factor most people think of when considering ways to save.

People have all different reasons for wanting to buy a motorcycle. The fun, the thrill, the money. Looking to save money, then a bike may be the answer your looking for. Compared to large cars, trucks, and SUVs, motorcycles can be substantially more cost effective. Insuring a bike is cheaper, and maintenance on a motorcycle is a lot less then on other vehicles.

A reason for buying a bike is that it is a lot more cost efficient than other automobiles. Well maybe that is just the reason bike owner give. Before buying a bike there are other things to think about. Geographically, are you going to be able to ride all year round or only seasonally. Is a bike going to be the only vehicle or the primary vehicle. All these conditions should be considered. For the most part, commuting by motorcycle should save you money. Weight mass of the bike and rider is substantially less than a car or truck. Meaning that less force is need to propel the bike forward. What this means for the bike owner is a saving in fuel costs.

Another thought is that if you have to pay for parking whether on the street, in a parking garage, over time that money adds up. A motorcycle, because of the amount of space needed to park, could possibly park in an alley or ever on a sidewalk, depending on the laws in your area.

If your bike is not your primary vehicle, you have a family sedan because you have children, a spouse, a family pet; a motorcycle is not going to work. But if you use two vehicles in your household, a bike could be a good choice. By riding the bike during the weather appropriate months for example, to commute to work or run errand on your days off, you will reduce the wear and tear on your family vehicle, perhaps enough that you may not have to replace it as soon as you would, had it been the only vehicle. It is one way to cut down on some of the more expensive maintenance or repairs, required after so many kilometers or years.

For some time is a factor. Some places today have what is known as lane sharing. What this means is that more than one vehicle may share the same lane on a multi-lane road. By taking advantage of this system, smaller vehicles such a bikes, can scoot past slower vehicles saving the driver time. It also enables the congested traffic to lighten up and therefore move faster.

Cutting costs hits every area of our lives. Many people are cutting down on their entertainment. A motorcycle, open road and a couple of hours, for some that is a mini getaway. Their escape from the real world. The freedom to take this time when they need it, comes from knowing that it will not cost a fortune to fill up the tank and just go. While fewer people are just going out for a Sunday drive anymore. They just can't afford it.

Saving money by riding a motorcycle could be the way to go for you. There are so many positive sides to a bike. But like everything, there is always a downside. For example, some people live in an area where they would not be able to ride a bike all year. That may require they have two vehicles, which may not be feasible for them. But it may be just the money saving idea that will work for you. Besides, everyone loves the idea of riding on a bike along the open road with the wind whipping around you. Saving money may be one reason to look into buying a motorcycle, but the added bonus will then be the thrill of owning one.
