Harley Davidson New Jersey Dealers

By Marie Snow

The name Harley Davidson is known the world over as a quality company with high end motorcycles. They are also known for their world class customer service, something they pride themselves on. They believe that a rider's relationship with their local dealer is just as important as the one they have with their bike. Prospective Harley Davidson New Jersey dealers must remember this when applying.

The process to become a Harley dealer is a long one. Though there is no licensing or franchise fee, there are some up front costs. The company will vet your ability to handle being one of their world class dealers through an approval process. The first step in this process is to fill out a long and detailed application.

The application is a big deal because it helps the company vet prospective dealership owners. They must make sure they are financially stable and can maintain the cost of running a bike dealership, which can be very expensive. Although the popularity of Harley Davidson's helps, the up front costs are still a lot.

The running of a service department is another ability that the executives will vet once you apply. No matter how great a bike you buy, it will eventually need routine maintenance or even repairs done to it. Running a garage is as important to a dealership as selling the bikes themselves.

Prospective dealers must also know the local New Jersey market. Riders here are different from riders in California, because they ride in much different terrain and weather. They therefore will have some different needs, needs which any dealer must be able to meet in order to become successful.

After looking over everything, an applicant can expect to be put in a database within 45 days if they meet the minimum requirements. From there, you may or may not be offered a dealer contract. If you aren't offered right away, the application will stay on file for a year, giving you a little more time to possibly sign up and open your shop.
